[P] Countdown
Prestige theme introduces two different countdown sections, which can be used to create urgency. Both sections show a countdown, but with different intents:
Condensed countdown
The condensed version can only be used at the top, in the header:
Full version
The bigger version is intended to be used in the main flow of the page:
Adding the sections
- Condensed version: the condensed version can only be added in the header section group. To add it, open the theme editor, click the Add section within the Header section group, and select the Countdown timer section. You can only add up to one condensed countdown.
- Full version: To add this section, open the theme editor, click Add section, and select the Countdown timer section. Due to its size, the full version cannot be added to the header section group.
Section guidelines
Do
- Add a countdown to create urgency, to promote a temporary sale or the upcoming release of a new product...
- Set a date in the future only using the format indicated in the theme editor (the theme will show nothing if you enter a date in the past).
- Use the "Hide section" setting for the "Timer expiration strategy" setting to hide the section once the time expires automatically.
- Completely remove the section from the theme editor once the timer has expired to prevent extra code from being generated for nothing.
Don't
- Don't abuse this section with fake promotions. Customers won't be happy with that, which can reduce the trust in your brand.
- Limit yourself to one or two countdown sections at max per page. Having a lot of countdown on a page can confuse users.
