[P] Privacy banner / cookie banner

Our themes natively integrate with Shopify Privacy API to register visitor consent regarding user data processing. This banner helps you to be compliant with local regulations.

This banner only controls the consent of Shopify-managed features. If you use a third-party tracking and analytics system, we recommend you contact a lawyer to ensure you comply with local regulations.

Scope of the privacy banner

The Shopify Privacy API integrates with local regulations, such as European GDPR or US CCPA law. You can find more information about when the banner is supposed to show on Shopify documentation.

The privacy banner is enabled by default. To turn it off, open the theme editor, and click on the eye icon next to the privacy banner section:

Privacy banner won't show on my store

Even if you have enabled the banner in the theme settings, it won't show up if:

You live in a country outside the European Union.
You have already accepted or rejected the banner in the past (Shopify will preserve the setting).

If you believe the banner should appear on your computer but do not, reach Shopify support. This might be a configuration issue on your Shopify store.
